Is USCIS getting more efficient? Revelations from EAD data analysis.

I took 127 observations from data the forum reported in the past by people who applied for employment authorization and ran the following simple descriptive statistics.

It took on average 69.2 days to approve an AED from the ND. The fastest approved AED was in 29 days and the longest 131 days.

Now to check if there were any differences between 2005 and 2006 applications, I split the data into two, those applications with ND before 01/01/2006 and after.

2005 applications
1. 88 had application ND dates of 12/31/2005 or older;
2. They had on average an approval length of 67.7 days (with min days being 29 and max 131 days).
3. Median is 62 days.

2006 applications
1. 39 applications had ND after 01/01/2006;
2. It took on average 72.6 days for the CIS to approve applications. In this category the fastest was approved in 50 days, and slowest in 94.
3. Median is 72 days.

There we go folks. This information does not necessarily mean that USCIS has gotten inefficient with time (although it looks like that from the medians); actually I could argue that there isn’t that much of a statistical difference in the times of approval between these two years. Since the counting here was done from the ND, add 7 days to get an average from the RD.

I hope you find this useful ;) & good news to me as this tells me that I am just under a month away from my AED.

lol did you include cases with RFE's in your observation cuz that could make a difference

I am told that RFE's do not affect I-765. It is processed seperately from I-485. When I applied for my EAD I only submitted the form, a money order ($180) and that was all. They don't require two photographs no more, as they do that when you go for your biometrics.

So in short its almost impossible to get an RFE for an AED.

Now

You might want to call this coincidence but I think its good and simple Science. Median approval time is 72 days... my EAD came on DAY 72 :)

Conclusion: You can't go wrong if you think your EAD will be approved on day 72 ( +/- 3) hahahah ~ I love this forum.

Praetorian,
Just realised that you will be flying back just a day before your AOS interview. I hope you don't miss your flight or it gets delayed. I would advise you to return on the 5th.

Thanks for the suggestion, but there are not seats available. It is all booked. Either I return on July 29 or August 9. :eek:

Which defeats the purpose of my trip or misses my AOS interview.

Say a prayer for me that nothing will happen. But I have never missed a flight and it was delayed once (only because of a Volcano erupting). But I am an AA Platinum Member, I am sure they would accommodate me :)

Yes I told my friend PretorianIX about this before. I wouldnt't dare travel before my interview. I think its too risky. I am sure he will be fine, but the man has guts :)

You all better cross your fingers, say a prayer, call the FAA or whatever if I do not report as BACK IN THE US on August 6th. Though I will be arriving at 11:30 pm on the 6th.

You are a soldier PreatorianIX. I wonder what this forum would look like without you... we have to come up with a prize for yah!
