Please, help me, my brother-in-law has got green card based on IT employment and is unemployed though he made sincere efforts. My sister is supporting him. If they apply for citizenship, will their application rejected. My sister is in IT and they paid IRS dues every year in time. They supported themselves. Though, my sister can produce W-2s. Let some one know..
Thank you

if both of them are going to apply the citizenship based on the employment based greencard, their cases will be processed individually. of course, when your brother-in-law goes to the interview, he could say he was unemployment for the period of time and his wife supported him.

how long has your brohter-in-law being unemployed? and when was it?

I don't think unemployment will count against citizenship.
Its not a crime or illegal. Also its not stated anywhere that its a must to be employed.
In short I would not worry about it. (May be have all the information available such as past pay stubs etc.)

Assuming that he didn't apply for welfare, he should be OK.
