We have valid Advance Parole and we would like to use it to enter into US and planning to travel via Amsterdam.

Do we need transit visa???

KLM is the way to go...

...Amsterdam is one of the few stops in Europe and Holland one of the few nations that does not require an Advance Parole applicant to get a Dutch visa for transit.

I traveled as recently as last week and was very glad that I did not have to deal with transit visas, unlike the UK and France last year when I had to go through the headache of getting one, even though it was never really checked.

I did confirm with the Dutch consulate before traveling and had a smooth transit at Schiphol.

Enjoy your trip!

I am travelling to India. I do not have a Visa in my passoprt and want to use Advance Parole. What is the best route without getting into transit visa problems.

Uhm...

I thought my last post was very self-explanatory. To repeat, an Indian national DOES NOT require a transit visa for Holland (Amsterdam) if you have a valid Indian passport (not expired). They do not even check AP document WHEN you are GOING TO India.

On the return, they will check the AP before you can board the flight to the US, as is the standard procedure on most european airports. Here, your AP and valid Indian passport will be sufficient.

Since the Dutch (Holland) government does not require a transit Visa for Indian nationals with valid AP, there is no question of going through transit visa headaches. Like I said before, I have gotten transit visas when flying through London and Paris but saved myself about $40 this time going via Amsterdam, as well as the headache of getting one.

I hope this clearly answers your question.

Thank you so much. we are travelling with two little kids. And we do not want to get into trouble.

I just came back to US from India via Amsterdam on 25th and there is no problems at all. You do not need any trasit visa (I used AP at POE in USA).

It is standard procedure (for the most part)...

...when you board a flight from any european airport (even in transit) to any Port of Entry in the United States.

The US Govt. requires the departure european airport official to look through your valid entry document into the US.

They are not required to stamp any document or make any corrections, just look to make sure you have a valid visa, AP, etc. to enter the US.

I believe this is part of some agreement the US has with the EU since 9/11.

GC_TRAP,
That I was aware of. I was more interested to find out if Dutch authorities checked jupitar's AP so that they could waive the requirement of a Dutch transit visa.

Yes, the person at boarding counter at Amsterdam while boarding the flight to JFK asked me whether i have GC. I told my GC is in process and i showed my AP. she said ok.

Once again there is no need to take transit visa for Amsterdam if your destination is NOT Netherlands and if you have onward ticket.

Thanks,
Jupitar.

You do not need any transit visa, just keep AP document with you. You might need to show it while boarding the flight at amsterdam while coming back.

Enjoy your stay in India.

ah...uhm...

baby_mde,

I'm very puzzled, and somewhat intrigued at you asking the same question again and again. Don't mind my saying but if you want the answer in some indian language like hindi etc, I'd be happy to write it that way. If it's some other indian language like Tamil or Punjabi, maybe some other kind soul could help out.

Again, not to sound condescending, but several people have confirmed that you DO NOT need a transit visa, but you seem to keep on checking.

Good luck with your trip and stay in India.
