This discussion is going on for long time. That is: To nose around others EACs or not. And friends in this forum are divided in their opinions. I am not sure how they run the scripts.
My thoughts:
1) The EAC#s are not assigned only for the 485s. They are for AP, EAD and to some extent, H1B notices also.
2) The EACs are random numbers. So EAC1 may be assigned for X's 485 and EAC2 may be for Y's AP.
3) Running the script(and still I would like to know how can you run a script against BCIS system
) against these numbers are not going to give us any idea of how BCIS is working.
4) If someone can shed some light on how exposing the case status of those EAC#s were helpful to this forum, I would be very happy.
5) Some people argued that knowing your EAC and adding and subtracting 100 numbers in between and checking them is not harmful. Well, harmful or not it is an invasion of privacy. So, one of the friend retorted with the theory of why couldn't we post all our SSN, credit card numbers etc. because it is the same logic applied here.
I am a silent spectator of those arguments. Only once I suggested to a friend of this forum not to do that, he agreed and end of the story.
Ok, my opinion? It is not necessary to check other's case numbers. It is each and every individual's responsibility to check their case and either jump happily or punching the monitor in anger.
