Is this RFE?

Hi Guys,

I got the following message today on my I131. Is this RFE?

"On October 26, 2005, we responded to your request for more information concerning your case. If you have not received our response within 30 days from this date, please call customer service at 1-800-375-5283."

The confusion is that I called them on 10/26 and talked with a customer representative to get more information about my case. Is this message documenting that phone call?

If this is RFE, it should have said something like: "On October 26, 2005, we requested for more information concerning your case." instead of "...responded to your request...".

What could possibly be the nature of this RFE (if it were RFE)? I131 is a simple enough case.

Any thoughts on this? Thanks.

To me it seems like you made a request to the USCIS for more information and that the USCIS has responded with the information your requested.
 
I remember having a similar thing happening for my H-1B last year. I made an official inquiry for a case update prior to approval, and the letter I got back said just what your said. That is NOT an RFE, but a response to a status inquiry made by you. Did you do a USCIS inquiry lately regarding your I-131 case?
 
Yes. I made a phone call on 10/26 to find out why I haven't received my receipt notice for I131. The lady on the phone said it's because I would not get a paper receipt since I filed online.

So the message is saying that they mailed me something to explain the content of the phone call, which I should receive in 30 days? That seems a complete waste of time since they already told me what I needed to know.
 
Yes, the USCIS notice will explain the content of the phone call. I never had an RFE, but my nuderstanding is that it will literally say "Request For Evidence" so you cannot misunderstand it.
