Is this officer sitting on file or name check?

I just wonder what is happening with all of us. People after interview are waiting forever. I have a feeling that the interviewing officer just sits on a file for no reason (hmm a reason could be that he does not like my brown/black skin or my uneven beard or my shirt on that very day or my asking him about when the oath could be!). He can say we are waiting for some check! My foot, what check is that?

Rahul kumar waited and found that some ass was sitting on file and did not get forwarded. Ibm101 is waiting. And many more others like chotty. How would we ever know what exactly is wrong with the file?

My name check is a problem but my wife's is no problem? How come? If I am a threat to USA just because of my name, how come my wife is not considered a threat? Is not this a joke?

I just feel that the idiot who interviewed me got his ego offended because I asked him how much time to wait for oath and my wife did not ask. She got oath 1 month after interview and I am waiting!

Wonder what sort of morons are running the USCIS? Why not tell me what is wrong with my file? What does a name check mean? Simply because my name is David, or Tom or Dick I am automatically no threat to USA? On what basis a threat is determined? Suppose my new US Citizen wife now changes her name?

Is not this all a confusing mess of things going on?

What's more puzzling is the fact that oath is administered the same day the interview is conducted, at Newark NJ office. How come they don't have name checks?

Yes u r right 'would be citizen'. I agree with u
I do not know what these morons are doing. If they think we will bring in harm they r highly mistaken. Why would a legal resident play tricks. People who want to play tricks will never want to become legal.
Why can't these morons understand.
I am tired n sick of this.
Need to do international adoption but alas cannot do it.

Its pathetic with the name checks. Believe me thank someone that the FBI does these checks not the CIS itself. If its slow now, then realise it could have been slower. much slower!

Same day Natz is done for ppl with cleared namechecks. Name check request is submitted as soon as a Non Ident Fingerprint is obtained. If u are identified as an unsuitable for Natz with the FP, they wont bother with name check.

As far as i know name checks are done for all applicants. GC/N400/Visas etc etc.

I don't believe so. Anyway, my name check results where forwarded to USCIS way back in September (got a confirmation from FBI via email). If I am not naturalized on the day of interview, your theory fails.

I believe its upto the local district office, or atleast Newark NJ is the only office that does this. Other district offices probably request another name check after interview. My theory is that this second check should be done only if the applicant asks/confirms for a name change. Checks should be done against the new name. However, to be safe, I assume all district office request for a new check, even though it is not required and this causes delay.

Let me clarify.

Same Day Natz is done for people (in districts like Newark) only if the name check is completed. Name checks are always initiated before interview and it is initiated by the SVC Ctr as far as I know.

I have read that there are only 2 District offices that do oaths the same day as the interview - Newark was one and I can't recall the other - is is definately not Philly. I do seem to recall it was a smaller office.

To all who replied.

I think if you went to an interview, the officer would give you a letter saying something - that you passed test or you are being checked or your application is pending etc. The top of that paper contains the name of the officer who did the interview. My opinion is that, if you can write a nice letter (with lot of respect inducing wording) to that officer and fax it to the place where you went to interview, he may really take a look into it and either call or fax back (!) something to you.

Calling FBI and finding out if my name is ok or not, may help but still it would not rattle any USCIS nerves. I plan to wait a few more weeks and write a nice letter to the officer who interviewed me and fax it to him.

Of course I may write a 'masala' letter later to the USCIS about their work after I get my Natz certificate *and* the passport :-) LOL.

What do you think?
