Hi All,

I have received an e-mail from USCIS with following message ...

Application Type: I485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status

Current Status:

Processing for your Alien Registration Card or Green Card has been completed. Your BCIS document will be mailed to you as soon as it is ready.

I am just wondering, is this the message normally be sent if I-485 is approved. I have seen a different message if I-485 is approved in this forum...which stated ..
This This case has been approved. On <date ...> an approval notice was mailed. If 14 days have passed and you have not received this notice, you may wish to verify or update your address........etc

Shall I assume my I-485 is approved based on the received message? I am confused....
Experts out there please advise ....

Thanks

weird message but i smell good news 4 u ..congrats!

I think CIS again did some foul play and instead of approving the case message they have displayed the Plastic Green Card Message. Anyhow, take this oppurtunity and call NCSC and ask them to explain how they can send the plastic card without the Approval notice and stamping on the passport.

Good Luck !

Thanks for all your responses.
I called CIS and found out that my case has been approved and says my approval document will be mailed with in 30 days. Initially the CIS representative also bit confused with the message and later found out it had been approved.
The online message is still confusing ... Anyway my I-485 is approved. I am relaxed. However my wife's I-485 is still pending... don't know when it will be approved, applied at the same time.

This forum is great and very helpful.. Thanks to Rajiv Khanna :-)

Congratulations and I was pretty sure that you are already approved.

Please post more details of your case like RD,ND and FP dates etc.

grmami,
Mine is the exact same status and I called the 800# this morning and was told that the case has been approved and the plastic card should be in the mail in the next 30 days. They told me that I would NOT need a local USCIS office visit (via infopass). I find that hard to believe and am just gonna wait for that status to change again to say something like "Your case has been approved.."
Receiving the plastic card in the mail without going through a local office visit seems too good to be true..

Just FYI... My Wife was in "Processing on your Green Card is completed, your BCIS document will be mailed to you" and I was in "On xxx, we responded to your request for more information." Per my call to the 800# on seeing my wife's status a few days ago, I had asked them as to how that would be possible and she gave me the exact same response as grmami got. Well, we all know that these people are just contractors with little knowledge of Immigration issues and process.
Both of us have today changed to RFE Requested status. Mine, I understand but my wife's change in status seems wierd. She is the primary applicant, we finished our 2nd FP's less than a month ago. We are a May 2003 case. Anyways, from the seemingly "approved and finished" status, my wife is back to RFE status. I hope once the RFE is responded to, we go to "I-485 approved" status and not this wierd "Processing on your Green Card is completed" status which from this forum seems to be like a transient status

hakoonamataata,
Yes, mine (for my wife case) did and there were 2 e-mails. with the same message as grmami and pujar. But her status still the same since 9/16/04 and we also received FP2 noticed 9/20/04. My guts feeling told me to keep going for FP and I will try to do an early FP. Anyway, it seemed only last month that this type of message has been occured. There also none of us who gettting this message have recieved actual card or approved notice. I only see one case LUD changed to apporve one and pujar changed to RFE. I believe this is an error from Vermont.

Details of my RFE...

Just FYI... my wife's RFE needs (a) medical and (b) employment letter. My RFE needs a marriage certificate. My wife's RFE makes sense but as for mine, there was a copy of the marriage certificate already submitted when we filed for I-140/I-485 together so am surprised they are asking for it again?
The marriage certificate was the one issued by a Civil Authority from India, where I come from, so am not sure why they are asking for it again?

Surprise ... Today, I got two emails each for me and my spouse saying that This case has been approved.
I am hoping at least this time my case has been REALLY approved.
I will confirm this myself ONLY after seeing the approval documents. :)

Yes, online message also shows the same. There was a LUD change today also, don't know why? ..
I will wait another week for my approval letter in mail. Then I will contact CIS. There is NO point in calling them, they will tell the same message what was displayed on online, that's what happened with previous message.

Hope pujar and Roj86 cases would be approved soon, who are in same boat as me... good luck guys.

good news for u guys

As of October 26th ,2004 no one has to go to local USCIS office for stamping .The USCIS is phasing out passport stamping as of that date. This message was given in attorney Sheela murthy's web site as news flash. Therefore, the message u guys got from USCIS regarding getting plastic card directly is true.

Pipladi, If you just saw ETA-GC's posting, Murthy.com has come up with a new posting or news flash as they call, kind of an amendment to the original posting. This new posting states that USCIS has no such plans as of now. So we should all continue the traditional way of I-551 stamping.
GRMAMI, just a suggestion, that if you were to run out of patience waiting for the approval in the mail, you could just take a printout of the web status as your approval and go to your stamping center. This is something I learnt from another posting based on their successful experience. Again, just a suggestion
