Let us assume the Bill becomes law in 3 Months

X = Pending I485 (Including Spouse's and Children)

Y=X/2.25 (Pending I485, Excluding Spouse's and Children, as per reported numbers by usics that for every I140 there are 2.25 I485)

140,000 EB Visa Available for 2005-2006 (Current approx 70,000 are being used by Spouse's and Children)

90,000 EB Visa Will be made available due to this law

230,000 Total Visa I485 Available (for every I140)

If Y (which excludes spouse's an children ) is less than 230,000 ..then the complete backlog might be addressed , provided USICS moves faster than DOL (Who are pumping in Backlogged LC's of later Priority Dates) and FBI keeps up with name checks at the USCIS Speed.

Iam not trying to create false hopes, just trying to ascertain what is the impact and importance of this bill (Atleast for people whose applications are pending).

BTW is the senate judicary comm approved it 13/3 , that is a 81% . Probability it becoming law should be higher.

Opinions? POJ , Sars76 and all the gurus on this forum?

aris,

These days I shy away from any predictions because things are totally crazy and no one really knows what is going to happen. Although I have not done a detailed analysis of the numbers so you have, I do believe that 90,000 visa numbers becoming available and more importantly dependents (spouses and children) not taking up visa numbers will have an immediate short term impact. If this becomes law, people who have filed should see immiediate relief. 2000-2002 PDs will defenitely benefit. If your numbers ring true then the cutoff may progress into 04. There is no telling.

It is very important for this bill to pass. Everything else seems hopeless at this point.
