Is This A Strong Reason For Asylum????

Dear friends, I want to know if a 60 years old woman that faced divorce in her Country and got custody of child, that is being persecuted by ex-husband and ex-husbands family, she has gone to the police in her country and she has been beaten before two times by this people. She have been threatened of dead and she is affraid of returning to her country, this means she is a mistreated woman facing dead threats and no authorities had protected her in the past, she is really affraid of going back home since she says she will be killed. The ex-husband family is really upset because she won custody of the son and ofcourse ex husband was very violent and abusive.
Any comments? does a 60 yo woman can get protection here?:confused: She has real Fear of going back and a valid reason for that fear. She has Hospital records of being beaten and a court order by Mexican judge to this Ex husband of not getting close to her again, but they still follow her and harras her.

She may qualify as a Battered woman and file the case based on Domestic violence/Humanitarian grounds. I know a lady who was granted assylum on these bases. But your lawyer will be able to tell you more.
 
This is a complicated area. You need an attorney who has experiences in domestic violence asylum cases.

Thnks to all of you, I will recommend her with my lawyer he won my asylum case and I think he'll be able to help her. I think she might have a good case because ut doesn't matter if is your family or the goverment whos persecuting you as long as your life and physical well is in danger you can get asylum in the u.s.
 
60 Years old?

The only problem I see here is that these incidents may have happened to her a long long time ago. Obviously if she is sixty her child will be an adult even if she became mother at the age of forty. That mean the kid is 20 years or older. So what kind of custody are we looking at here? If my above conclusion is wrong then tell us how long she has been living here in USA? Legally or illegally?
