Is there any rule to extend the PR validity

Tomorrow I will become a perminent residence. I was in Canada for 4 years and I will move to US next week to start my PhD degree there. The duration of my studies is 4 years. I am in the middle of a big decision. stay in canada and become citizen or go for PhD.

Do you know any rule for this case? can I fill and application to ask for extending my PR? I will go back to canada for live and work as I was during past four years.

You cannot get your immigrant visa extended. Having said that, once you complete your landing formalities, you have a full three years to move to Canada permanently.
