We live in CA, the local NBC channel is broadcasting opening ceremony at 8:00PM PST. I have a strong feeling that could be a recorded transmission. I would like to know is there a channel that is transmitting the program live at a much earlier time ??!!
Also... this is the info from http://www.nbcolympics.com/index.html
NBC features the Opening Ceremony on Friday, Aug. 13, at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Search the NBCOlympics.com TV Viewing Interactive Guide for complete listings.

If transmission was live, 8:00 PM ET should be 5:00 PM PST!!!!

In USA, you will only get recorded olympics. There will be no live transmission as NBC have telecasting rights for olympics for usa. since they paid $793 million, they will make sure that us residents get to see only their feed and no one else. The reason for taped transmission is the time differernce. NBC wants to put their stuff in prime time, so that they can make money by selling advt slots. Otherwise it is very boring. You know what i mean, if u watch their sydney 2000 coverage.

You can try your luck through internet and see if you can get live tv station, but i seriously doubt that either. NBC will go any extent to deprive us residents live broadcast of ollympics.
