Is the Previous H1 still Valid?

Hi,
My Brother-in-Law worked for Comapny A for 6 months and then Joined Company B.After 6 months he fell sick and did not work 3 months.When he was ready for work,Company B says that they wrote to INS and withdrew his H1.
Also they say that once they find a project they can get back the H1.
Is it Possible?
Also is it possible to go back on Company A\'s payroll supposing that Company A did not withdraw the H1 and Company A finding a Project.
Any inputs will be highly appreciated.

yes can go back to company A,

Get a sick leave approved from company A and document it. He can work for company A as long as the H1 stamp is valid and company did not withdraw the H1.
As for company B that is a general statement don\'t count on it.
