Take the case when the priority date is say Jan 1998. The labor was filed under Non RIR EB3. Now Finally when the case is filed for Adjustment of status. WILL INS TAKE UP THE CASE ON THE BASIS OF PRIORITY DATE OR RECIEPT DATE. WILL INS PROCESS THE CASES IT HAS RECIEVED BEFORE( HAVING A MORE RECENT PRIORITY DATE SAY MARCH 2001) OR WILL THEY TAKE UP THE CASE HAVING A PRIORITY DATE OF JAN 1998 EVEN THOUGH IT IS RECIEVED AFTER A CASE HAVING the priority date of March 2001) .

PD does not matter if they are current. Time starts with I-485 RD.

Set your stop-watch to I-485 RD. If you get RFE\'s add 30-90 days (Approx). This isbased on what we see in different postings.
 
Yes, PDs become important \'current\' status is reversed. Its happened during 1998-99.

PD is not important as long as the categories are current .
Your AOS is processed based on when INS got your I 485 application .
more based on your RD , ND ...
It is frustrating as my PD is also 06/98 and guys with PD
01/2000 filed their AOS ahead of me and are getting approved .
You got to live with all these rules that INS has .

My PD is Jan 1999. Many people with PDs in 2000 are likely to get GC before me if the dates do not retrogress.
