Is personal interview possible while still being eligible for drop box.

Friends,
I need to get my H1B revalidated from chennai.
I am eligible for Drop Box at tt services.
It is taking around 3 weeks to get the passport back if we use drop box. But i will get only 2 weeks of vacation.
Can I attend personal interview at chennai consulate while being eligible for drop box? I think this would speed up the process.
