is original I797 required for entering US with a valid H1 B

Hi
I have entered US earlier on an H1B earlier. Am utilising the same visa to re enter again. Do I need to carry the original I 797 with me?
I need that form for my spouse who will be filing for H4 while I am in US. Is it possible that I can leave the form with her while I return with a valid H1 stamp and a photocopy of the I 797
