Is my excuse for oath good enough?

I had my citizenship interview in New York Federal Plaza on 5/3. The thing is my file was delayed two months because of a USCIS mail delivery error. Before that, I had already planned to go to my cousin's wedding and see my niece on 5/27 in Hawaii and then study abroad in Asia for a year (so I obviously need to finish my oath before I leave because I'm not flying back to NY from Asia just for my oath). Because of this delay, I'm cutting it reallllllly close.

So I'm still waiting for my oath letter, and I've called the USCIS customer number and they said I could make an infopass appointment. At the appointment they could try to accompany me at the next available oath if I tell them my situation. I was wondering has anyone tried to do this before? Do you think they'll accomodate me based on my situation? I mean, the office was the one who made the error and caused this situation in the first place....

Thanks!

No, that won't work. It is not a matter of giving then a "good excuse". Before you can take an oath, a naturalization certificate needs to be printed; that takes time and cannot be done at an INFOPASS appointment.

You can certainly try to see if they are willing to accommodate you, but don't expect anything.

Well yea I understand that. It's been three weeks since my interview and the customer service people told me I have been put on the list to schedule an oath since 5/18 last Thursday. So I assume the certificate is printed out and I'm just being scheduled. And he did tell me if I have a situation then I could do that for sure, it just depends on whether the INFOPASS officer thinks he/she should do it for me or not

I don't think what the customer service people told you necessarily implies that your certificate has already been printed (in fact, I suspect that it has not since they have not told you the date for which your oath is scheduled). E.g. on my own certificate the date of the oath is printed, which I assume is a part of the standard production process.

Of course, you can still try an INFOPASS and make your case there; that could not hurt. You could also ask your local congressional representative for help.
In my case the staff of the U.S. House of Representative member for my area provided much more accurate info about the date of the oath and the status of my case than I was ever able to get from USCIS.

So the House of Representative office could potentially help me get a earlier oath also? or they can only provide me more exact details of my file?
