Is my EAD automatically active?

Hi,

I have been working for a employer on H1B for the last 3 years.

Current Status: I got my Labour, I-140 approved and I-485 is waiting for approval. I also have got EAD - valid till Next November. I got all these through the same employer. My H1B Validity is expiring today. Haven't applied for H1B extension. And I haven't used my EAD so far with any other employer.

That's the background in a nutshell.

My Question : From tomorrow onwards ... am I on my EAD automatically OR are there any formalities - like informing the employer in writting/ taking any letter from the employer/ informing USCIS that I will be using my EAD from tomorrow etc. - that I need to complete to use my EAD and continue working on for this employer?

Appreciate your advise.

Thanks

Once your H1B status has expired and you are not renewing it, you need to file a new I-9 with the employer, showing them the EAD. It is not automatically "activated"; you have to use it for an I-9.
