Hey Gurus,
Need your help!!! I & my wife got a RFE for Medical Exam. She is pregnant and therefore cannot take MMR (Measles, mumps and rubella) shot. But I guess when a person is pregnant the OBGYN does a test for Rubella....and her tests show she has taken it.
My question to you guys is that is MMR a single shot or multiple shots? If single then we can show to the doctor that she has taken the rubella shot ..that implies she has taken shot for Measles and mumps too.

Thanks

She may not have to take shots while pregnant

You can get a certificate from her doc saying she is pregnant and cannot have the shots.

Also our doc ordered a blood work that checks for antibodies for all the vaccinations that are reqd. We took that report to the INS Physician and she filled the medical form based on that. I only had to take tetanus shot and my husband had to take tetanus and chicken pox based on the bloodwork.

Yes, go and ask your physician to do an antibody titer on the others. It will show if she is immune to measles and mumps, you can get it done get it done for varicella also. Thats the chicken pox one.

Get the blood tests (titers for measles and mumps. She already has the titer for rubella if she has prenatal care. Downside: $$$).
Many people who didn't grow up in the US or western europe have immunity to measles and mumps even if they didn't receive the shot. The measles vaccine is only around since the early seventies and immunization was by far not universal until well later.
