Is it safe to travel abroad while waiting I-485 approval?

RD 8/31/01 and ND 9/24/01. FP done 1/16/01 and processing resumed 1/19/01. Laid off 1/31/02 before 180 days from RD and still looking for an employment. Urgent family matter makes me travel abroad in June. I have AP and EAD. Is it safe to travel without employment at this point? Please share your wisdom.

you already must be trying hard to get a job, easier said than done but try to have some employment offer letter in hand before leaving..I would imagine one of the first queries at the port of entry to be whom are you working for..
