Is it possible ? got H1 approved (oct 2008) and graduating on F1 in december 2008.

I am F1 student doing masters, whose H1 was approved (effective date Oct 1st 2008, so no OPT) through my bachelors degree in lottery. Now i am graduating this fall 2008 sometime in october/november. So my question is, will I be in F1 status or H1 after october 1st. If my status is F1, then can I start my H1 once i join the job or if my status is H1, can I graduate on H1 and should i let the International office know of my status at school. Please help me if anyone knows of this situation?
 
No.. i got my I-94 when I was on F1 as a student 2 years back. i have not left the country yet. So will i be on F1 till graduation then?
 
I'm not talking about I-94 you got at POE.
have you checked whether I94 was attached to I-797 ?

Yes, there is a I94 attached at the bottom right hand corner with the I797. On the bottom left hand side, there information with my receipt number, I94 number, valid from oct 1st (saying for my personal records). So does it mean my H1 starts from Oct 1st? also then any idea whether I can join the company after my graduation in december?

yes.

technically, you must be paid as soon as you becomes H1 status. You can continue school til Dec, but need to be paid. Talk to your employer or reenter the US with F visa after Oct 1 to put you in F1 status again.
