Is it over for us?

Re: Re: my thoughts...

precisely. the proper way for americans to fight this is show their power of voting by saying "no more green cards". it is their country and they are free to do this. no stopping. then we can't do a thing. instead they create something called green card and then cry that this is screwing themselves and then try to cheat honest immigrants by not giving it. why lie abt it? just say no green card will be given. instead of just extending the process indefinitely. then thing is - i don't *think* (i have no proof) proper hard working americans are deprived of their jobs!!!

Now put yourself in the shoes of a American , born and brought up here in the US and without a job for 2 yrs. How do you think he feels when he sees people from other countries going to work everyday, while his family starves ? If we cannot understand the plight of fellow immigrants (legal or otherwise) why do we expect understanding from BCIS or Lou Dobbs or all the others who engage in immigrant bashing ? Arent we in the same position, indirectly robbing from unemployed Americans and feeding our families ?

Here's some more cold statistics for you...

well, yeah, it's all very sad, but to the left of that article there's a link called "Jobs" with quite a few position listed. Look, the fact is - job scarcity is only part of the problem - people are unwilling to compromise and adapt, you know, - change the field, relocate. Blaming someone or something else for your situation is an indication of an internal problem.

I think that lot of these people who are unemployed for a long time can easily find another job. However, this another job will most probably not be the same high paying IT job that they lost. Those job will be some lower end jobs like working at comp usa or the mall or even a low end IT job which wouldn't pay as much as they were getting.

So even with going through college and experience, if they see some other person getting their job, and they having to settel for a lesser job will defenitely fustrate them.

I heard a story some time back that the railway employees in Mumbai threatened the railway minister or someone that high in the ranks because lot of people from UP and Bihar were comming to mumbai and taking up the railway jobs, hence mumbai residents were loosing those jobs. Those railway employees even beat up some of the people in mumbai.

This is the same situation here, and to make it worse, they are loosing their jobs to foreigners, not even other contrymen (like in mumbai) I just think that I am glad that they are not getting violent over this issues.

I certainly will get upset if after going through school and getting so much work experience, i have to quit a high paying job and have to settel for a car salesman job.

The reason unemployemnt is in excess of a year is because people refuse to take up petty jobs in exchange for the high paying jobs that they lost.

On the other hand, this is America, it is a capitilist country, the basis of this country is to make money and capitilist over the past centuries have stepped on other people's toes to get their money. I think we are following the same attitute, it is survival of the fittest, One would rather have someone else loose their job, then they themselve loose their job.

Everyone is right from their prespective and their understanding of this issue. I don't believe there is a right or wrong to this issue.

Just my take.

As a matter of fact I think there was a case somewhere in Detroit or vicinity where some automotive industry employees have beaten a Chinese immigrant to death having assumed that he was a Japanese stealing their business. That was during the time when American cars were not much more than buckets of bolts and Japanese cars were, well, Japanese.

I think there are always radicale and fenatic in every socity, but compared to the violence we saw in bombay, one or two people getting beaten up here is not that bad!

Anyways, all I am trying to say is that I don't feel like I have the right to judge if someone is right or wrong for this particular issue, since we would change our point of view depending on which side of the table we are on.

Well, actually they cracked his skull with baseball bat, killing him. Look up name Vincent Chin, the story is quite educational, to say the least.

But have you guys read the news? It looks like W. is going to waive 3-year waiting period of McCain bill! Can you say "Priority Date"?

hypocrites?

j54231. Really? How about you and other people being selfish. This is what it's all about for you -- Help yourself and yourself only and who cares about the lives of others. That's what it all boils down to -- selfishness.

Do you think that you are really wanted by some Americans here? I don't think so. They rather see you back in your country "where you belong". People are discrimanatory to you, so in return you discriminate against illegal aliens. How selfish can you all possibly be?

Do you who are legal here or those who have green cards or are citizens really want to take on menial jobs? No you wouldn't because you consider yourself above those occupations. You're too prissy to take on jobs like those in manual carwashes or orange picking. You're too educated. You wouldn't dare be near it. But guess what, these illegal aliens who just WANT TO EAT will work for any menial jobs that the rest of us don't want. If no one wants to take those jobs then businesses that hires people like them wouldn't flourish, and that affects the economy.

And as for robbing? They didn't come here to steal or kill or harm anyone. They came here to earn money, so they can EAT and LIVE. Basic necessities of life people! Just like what you are doing. But you know what, if greed, ignorance and selfishness is what drives your heart (if you had one) and brain, then keep on. It's tiring arguing people whose hearts are cold.
