I got my FP notice dates scheduled at Oakland in Middle of August. Just wondering if I can drop in at the center some time the week after next? Any suggestions, thanks

From the experiences posted here in the past. Oakland ASC does not allow early FP unless there's a genuine reason with some proof..........It's better to go to SJC as they do early FP with out any questions.............

how can we change the service center?

How can we change the service center? In our notice it stated to go to Oakland. How can we go to SFO or SJ?

Per previous postings, people went to SJ for early FP even though notice showed different center. Make sure that you go to SJ for early FP when it is not crowded.

You can go to another place than Oakland to get your fingerprinting done ahead of time. My wife and I went to Oakland ahead of time but they refused to do our FP, so instead we continued to San Francisco and did the fingerprints there instead.
I really recommend the INS fingerprint office in San Francisco. I have forgot the address, but it is west of the big INS building, about two blocks. The INS people at the fingerprint office are really NICE and professional.

what reason did you give to go to SFO?

Also at SF, for FP, do you need to go early in the morning? What reason did you give - did the officer ask you why you are coming early and why you did not go Oakland? Also, somebody pointed out that there is problem of being 'adjudicated' by INS early, so cannot use AC21 - so cannot change jobs within the 180 days? Any comments??

thanks

When going to San Francisco after being turned away in Oakland, we did not have to give any specific reason. The people working at the SF fingerprint office are really trying to do their job in the most professional way. Completely different world than any other INS office we have encountered.
We went to the SF office around noon, there was very few customers so it took us only maybe ten minutes to get our fingerprinting done.

(I have forgot the details, so have a look at my previous postings if you need any more information)

I also scheduled to go to Oakland for FP. I went there at early date and got rejected.

Then I went to SJ INC and got my FP done, it is very easy and the people there are nice.

I don't know if it is really helpful to get the FP done early, it is 10 months delay for 485 now, so if you are not comfortable with that, you can go on scheduled time.

Just for your info.

I am not sure if early FP makes any difference in processing, as INS does it on a random basis anyway. Some have said that approval depends on your RD (maybe, but I am not convinced). I did my FP on schduled date at Oakland and got approval 3 months after. So my suggestion would be to do it on given date and avoid being rejected and wasting your time. Good Luck.

Cheers,

I had the same opinion as bhidu initially.........But after following the approval pattern for almost a year(and being maintained the latest approval data for a while), I found out early fp did help in faster approvals in many cases..........

So I strongly suggest to do early fp if possible..........
