Is it ok to apply for EAD???

If I apply for EAD and not intent to use it as long as my current employer keeps me employed, Can the employer force me to use EAD instead of keeping my H1 while I am working for him?

According to the law I can keep H status as long as I work work the petitioner(my current employer), Does it mean that the employer cannot cancel my H status?

Is it true that if the employeee is on H1, he cannot reduce salary below a certain amout but for people with EAD he can?
