Dear Friends,
Since I-485 processing is taking forever, I am thinking of
applying for Candian permanent residence as a backup.
Is it legal to do this, since I am already on EAD/AP ? Can
BCIS have problem with this ?
Please help.

Why you want to waste money by applying Canadian PR? At a time you can hold only one PR and give up another. Eventually your 485 will be approved one day so I think it is waste for applying another country residency.

To answer to your question, you can apply Canadian PR any time. It will not effect your US GC.

Actually I'm thinking about that too.
WHat if for some reason I-485 will be denied
or whatever? Hard to be sure about the job this days,
and approval depends on this, so I think its good backup.
Lawyer told me that it's no problem with that.

Even if you land in canada after gettting canadian residency, do you think you will land up job in canada very easily? I think India is much more better option than canada, atleast after 1 year you can come to US.

Come on! Do not compare Canada to India because
it is not even funny, get real.
At this moment if I had to choose where to leave
between Canada and US I'd choose Canada without thinking.
Less money, but much safer and nicer. I wish I did apply there in first place.

No doubt, Canada is better place to live compared to India but job wise I would say India has more oppurtunities than canada. You might want to experience once after landing in canada and get the feel of the country.

I hope you know that when you land in Canada as a part of the residency process(here ur 485 may be pending), they ask you specifically to turn down ur US Gc-and I guess u would not choose to do that in favor of Canadian PR.Eventually ull waste not only money, but u may come into CIS notice as US and Canada -they share databases to a large extent!

"I have patience" - From you reply it seems that there can
be a problem with CIS. Can US Immigration have problem
with me applying for canadian PR in I-485 stage ?

No..US Immigration has no problem if u apply for Canada PR at any stage. you can remain outside of canada for 3 yrs after getting the canada PR .

when you land in Canada nobody is going to ask you to
turn down ur US GC.

I have canada PR and my I-485 is pending.
