Is it OK for a new L1A person to start the GC process

Hi,

we have one of our managers recently approved for L1A, is it OK for them to start the GC process very quickly after arriving in the USA.

Even if we start now it will be a long time before it gets looked at so I guess it will be OK.

Hi,

You can apply for GC as soon as he arrives in USA.
You have to apply for I-140 (application for immigrant worker)and I-485(application for change of status ie non immigrant to immigrant). These days you can apply both the application concurrently. It would take 1.5 to 2 years to get GC.

I think we will use Consular Processing as it hopefully will be much quicker, although we will think long and hard about that first I guess.
