Is it normal to transfer NIW I485 to local office?

Hi,

My NIW I485 was transfered to local INS Office( interview).
Employment based adjustment of status generally waived the interview, is it normal for my case? What's the INS interested in?What will they ask? Thanks.Siny

It happens. Interviews are chosen at random or if the INS wants to verify that you were in status the whole time. They are pretty routine, although one of my friends (EB-1 EA) took his lawyer to make sure his rights were protected.

Depends on where you live. In NYC, it can take up to 2 years.
