Hi all,

I became a naturalized citizen of the US in September 2012 and am currently in the process of applying for my US passport. The name on my naturalization certificate is First_Name Middle_Name Last_Name. Is it alright to drop my middle name in the passport application or should I stick to the name on my naturalization certificate.

Thanks,
Shah007.

I wonder if you can exclude your middle name if you don't want it in your passport. It's often excluded in other documents.

Passport is one of the documents that can serve as a proof of full name. So, it must contain a full name.

Of course, a person may try to drop the middle name and see if it goes unnoticed. But we are talking about what a person should do according to the rules.
