Is it advisable to relocate?

I will be eligible for USC Sep, 2009 and I am in D.C(processing time 14+ months). Is it advisable to relocate to a faster processing area such as Indiana etc? I was thinking of relocating in Dec 2008 so that I can have enough time to settle down, find a job etc.

I wouldn't mind the wait but my wife who was on H1 had to leave since her visa were to expire & we have been apart for a year now and its driving us crazy.

Any comments?

I wouldn't plan so far ahead using today's processing times as a guideline since they can dramatically change by next year with the recent addition of USCIS staff. Today's speedy DO may become next year's snail DO, and vice versa. It just impossible to predict what will happen next year.

Btw, if your GC was obtained in 12/2005, you'd only be eligible to apply 9/2010, not 9/2009.

What ever you feel comfortabe doing. But what happens if you get stuck in the name check .. On the Uscis website it claims Dallas takes 14+ months Mine took 5.5 months.

Want,
Good to see you around here. I am sorry for your situation and what happened for seperation.
My guess is if that is the case and you need to move for a faster processing, you should move 5 months in advance to make sure you have everything setup. But I am sure by next year Sept. everything should settle and smooth processing.
I have seen lots of cases from Ohio to get their stuff fast, but bare in mind that recently they have started to process many new cases faster. Mine has been in line for about 8 months now but I have seen some recent San Diego for 5 or 6 months. So my hope is everything will go back the way it was or even better.

Goodluck, and if you are planning to travel to Europe please pack my bag and I will see you in the airport.

Peace.

Nimche,

I was so happy to see that you and your wife will finally be united. Thats great news that you became a citizen. I am planning to visit my wife on July 1st in Germany. IF you are around, lets meet for a coffee?

I am trying to go for July 15th if I get my passport by then. We are meeting in Berlin. Where are you guys going?

Have you applied for her I-130 yet base on your GC? If you didn't she might be able to get tourist visa.

You are not inviting us for a Starbucks, are you?

Oh on the 15th I will probably in Paris. My wife is a german resident so we try to go away from germany since all germany is the same.

Just wondering but can't your wife try to get another job and a H1? That would be simpler than moving for the sake of N400 imo !
