Is interview a MUST for I-485 approval

Is interview a MUST procedure for every one for I-485 approval and receiving card?

My online status changed to welcom notice yesterady but I have not had an interview. I have had FP twice, with picture taken and finger print taken for all fingers both times.

My 485 status changed to 'Welcome Notice' yesterday.Does this mean approval? Please let me know.

EB-2 with priority date - July-2001
Filed with NSC - Mar-2006.
Finger printing - May-2006.
Welcome notice - July-2006.

Is welcome notice and approval notice the same?

Case status changed to 'approved' today.
