Is H4 Transfer Required?

Hi,
Thanks to all. I am transferring my H1B right now from my current company to another company. My wife has H4 approval for my current company. Is it required to transfer my wife's H4 to the new company or is it OK to transfer just my own H1B. My lawyer advise me that as H4 is dependent on H1B, so H4 transfer is not required.

Please advise.

You lawyer is correct. But if your new H-1B validity period exceeds the earlier H-1 and H-4 validity, please take appropriate action.

you did not post what is the I-94 expiry date of your wife. if she has validity of her I-94 expiry more than 6 months then no need to file her H4 extension(you can later file her H4 extension before her I-94 expires) if your wife I-94 is going to expire in 2-3 months then better to file her H4 extension with your H1 transfer so that her H4 extension and your H1 approval will have SAME dates of I-94 expiry date.
