Is everything ready?!

Hi there,

Several weeks ago (last week of October) I have applied for the J1 visa waiver.
On November 2nd the following was updated on the US State Dep. website:

Fee Received November 02, 2010
Form DS-3035 Received November 02, 2010
Form DS-2019 Received November 02, 2010
Passport Data Page Received November 02, 2010
Statement Of Reason Received November 02, 2010

As of then the status reads PENDING.
Have I done all that needs to be done? Is it now just a case of being patient and wait until I (hopefully) receive the waiver? Or should I have done something else?

On the side it reads the following:
"Your case will not be considered ready for deliberation until all the required documents and inputs are received, including the request letter from a sponsoring government agency described above. DoS processing time will begin accruing upon receipt of all documentation required by regulation for the 212(e) waiver. Please note that processing time does NOT begin accruing with the payment of the fee or submission of the Form DS 3035."

If anyone has more experience with this process could you please tell me what to expect? I hope people could tell me more!

Thanks in advance,
Murck

On what basis you applying for waiver?
1. a no objection statement from your home government,
2. a request from an interested U.S. Government agency on your behalf,
3. a claim that you will be persecuted if you return to your country of residence,
4. a claim of exceptional hardship to a U.S. citizen or permanent resident spouse or child if you are required to return to your home country, and
5. a request from a state public health department, or its equivalent, on your behalf (only applies to foreign medical graduates who obtained J-1 status for graduate medical training or education).

Hi Mallik,

I have applied for a No Objection statement.
When I sent all the documents I had to send most documents to St. Louis and one document to Washington DC.

Hi,

If your waiver is based on no objection..Did you get waiver from Home Country? and then from home country embassy in US?..

Hi,

Well I had to send in one document, the Third Party Barcode page, to Washington.
All other documents had to be sent to St Louis.

So do I need to contact my home country embassy in Washington to ask them for the NOS separatly?
I thought all I needed to do was the online J1 visa waiver application?!

Hi, if you don't mind can you tell me your country, since I am from India..we have different procedure to get waiver from home country..

Stage 1
Make four photocopies of the enclosed form and affidavit.
Fill in original and have them notarized.
Provide complete details with clear answers. Do not use any vague expressions or dots and dashes. Do not leave any column blank.
Send four sets of these notarized forms with your passport and a fee of $60.00 in the form of Money Order or Certified checks for attestation to the Consular Section,

Stage 2
On receipt of attested forms from the Consulate General of India, send one copy each to:
The Regional Passport Office (where your passport was issued initially);
The Home Department of State in India you belong to;
The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Education, ES 5 Section, A-1/W-3, Curzon Road Barracks, Kasturba Gandhi Marg, New Delhi 110001. (For Non-medical Professionals only);
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Department of Health, Nirman Bhawan, New Delhi 110011 (for Medical Professionals only).

Stage 3
On receipt of clearance from all three offices mentioned above, send a photocopy of attested set of forms and affidavit with your passport, clearances received, and a fee of $20 plus postage (in the form of Money Order/Certified check) to the Visa Section, Consulate General of India, New York, for further processing.

Hi all,

First of all thanks for all the replies!
So I have made a call to the Dutch embassy in Washington. The man on the phone said that I indeed did the right thing by calling them because they need a few documents before they send the NOS to the Department of State in St. Louis.
The following documents are required:
- copy of passport
- copy of visa
- copy of DS 2019
- statement of reason
- third party barcode
- statement of tax history in the Netherlands

So basically I just need to get 1 document that I don't have yet, pretty easy!
Now it takes about 10 business days before I get this form and then I can email all these forms to the Dutch embassy. They will then send the NOS to the DOS!

Fingers crossed this process won't take too long..
