Should I work with a lawyer or do the application myself? I am married to a USC. Have a green card.

How much should cost the lawyer's fees?

NO. If you don't have any criminal issues or DUIs, and you have solid evidence of marital status, joint everything (car, life, home, health insurance, banking documentation, lease or mortgage) and if kids exist, plus still living together as married couple, then file on your own. N400 is not complicated at all, very simple and straight forward, especially if your nose is clean. Lawyer fees vary depending on circumstance. Unless your case is complicated, you don't need a lawyer.

Do it yourself unless you have a complicated case. Marriage-based case is always more complicated than 5-year based case but I don't think it is complicated enough yet for a need to hire a lawyer.

I echo this detail. Attorney fees I know of is about $2000 to file for green card or N400 application.

You can tell us of any possible issues that you think might be an obstacle to a successful application, and people here can tell you if you have to worry or not. Consult this forum first with details you are comfortable mentioning, and then if necessary, you can go to a lawyer.

If you only need a one-hour consultation to review and correct your paperwork before you submit it yourself, $200-$300 should be enough.

But if you want them to handle the case from end to end, expect to pay $2000 or more.

Do not go to a lawyer unless your application involves complex situations and you are totally at a loss as to how to proceed. You can very easily complete the US citizenship form all by yourself( Make use of the Guide on the USCIS site). If this does'nt help you can avail the help of online immigration service providers( check for genuine ones!) who will charge for helping you out, but that will be a minimal amount when compared to that of a lawyer's fee. If you are an illegal or overstayed or having legal problems, then immigration attorney is your only choice.
