Is Advance Parole compulsory for I-485 Approval?

No, u don\'t need to file Advance Parole with I485.
Advance Parole is only needed if you are not maintaining your H1 status and want to visit outside of US.

If yo have valid H1 yo do not need AP
In my case my H1 and i-94 expired 3 months after applying for 485. My company was reluctant to apply for H1 extension because I already had EAD. So I had to get AP to go in and out of country. However if yo have valid H1 you do not need EAD or AP.

As per my knowledge you need to have the AP if you wish to travel outside the US while your I-485 is pending abjudication. I don\'t think you should take a chance in the present situation by travelling on your H1. You might want to tlak with your lawyer in detail.
