Is a COC needed for CCA? And how does SS, USCIS, etc work together?

Bottomline for me (personal opinion) is *have a document that established your citizenship and that does not expire* . Leaving the details (and arguments) of what document is proof of citizenship, there are only few documents that truely fit the criteria - Birth Certificate, COC, Nat Cert are among that limited few.

If everything goes smoothly in their life, your kids will never have to show their CoC.

However, it is when things go wrong that the certificate can be useful. Passports expire, and there could be a delay in renewing the passport for various reasons, like the backlog that happened a few years ago, or the government denying the passport because they think you owe child support (sometimes they are wrong, and it is a case of mistaken identity or false allegations, but until it is resolved you can't get a passport).

So if you are a derived citizen without a CoC and your passport expires and you are stuck in such a delay when renewing it, you are left with no solid proof of citizenship while you wait.

Relax Southner. I wrote "may be" in there ... sure I have no clue about their app process. never applied and don't plan to anyways. I understand they can dig up anything they want on anyone ...

As far as the French citizenship goes, I was simply re-collecting some other post where someone mentioned about the proof of French citizenship. I was just giving you an example for your quote in a previous post - "I am yet to come across any country where a government issued passport is an unacceptable form of citizenship? "

Looks like you have pent up animosity towards right wing talk show hosts ... take it easy dude.

By the way, the OP chose "Bluegrass" name may be because he/she is from Kentucky state ... And Kentucky is known as the “Bluegrass State” ... my guess

Ks,

I am relaxed dude. I understand where you are coming from, I am a nice guy and I don't particularly care for rightwing talkshow. I find their abuse of 1st amendment to be contemptible to the core of what is acceptable in any society. Hate should never be accepted in public airwaves.

I am well aware that Kentucky is a bluegrass state, I was merely taking a fun poke at the user name. I usually admire creative names and I make comments about them when I find them nice. Let us agree to have a kosher meal when you visit DC to see the White House. I will treat you...:D

N-600 for child with pending I-485 approval

Hi,

My son was born outside the US. His I-485 was filed long back, but the approval is still pending. He has been living with both the parents continuously in the US since 2004. I applied for my citizenship and waiting for the interview.
Once I become citizen, can apply for my son's N-600 or do I need to wait till his I-485 is approved. He is 12 now.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Regards
