Is 485 receipt the finger print notice?

One thing confusing to me is, is I-485 receipt is the finger print notice, or there is a separate finger print notice? Because I-485 receipt does say one needs to call the 800 number to schedule finger print notice. So is there a specific separate finger print notice, if so, is it mailed from say VSC, or after one calls the 800 number?

No, the receipt itself is not for FP. You'll receive another seperate notice from USCIS about finger printing and it will tell you which type of FP you'll need (code 1, 2, or 3). I was surprised that your 485 notice says you need to call a 800 number to schedule FP; that's not on my 485 receipt. Normally, USCIS will do this scheduling automatically and send an appointment notice to both you and your attorney. --But, if you're sure that your 485 notice asked you to call to schedule an FP, then probably you should give it a try.

On my I-485 receipt, it has
"If this receipt is for an i-90, i-485, or i698 application
Biometrics - (fingerprint, photo, signature)
The next step is tohave your biometrics taken at a USCIS Application Support Center (ASC). Call cutomer service at 1.800.375.5283 to schedule your appointment. It is important that you schedule your appointment. We cannnot complete certain steps in processing until you appear for this appointment."

Hang,

Go to the "Fingerprinting issues" forum under I-485 issues, search for the username "josie" with the "Fingerprinting call to set appointment" title. There you will find the answer to your question and a recent change in the fingerprinting appointment scheduling for some USCIS centers. Good luck!
