Dear friends!

I'm a green card holder from Sri Lanka (DV winner) and i want to invite my parents for pleasure trip but my problem is my parents are living in India since some years and they want to acquire indian passport for the travel. is it acceptable? and can they try from India instead of returning to Sri Lanka?

Please advise, thanks

If they acquire Indian passports (legaly), they become Indian citizens. Therefore, they can apply for a US visitor's visa at the U.S. consulate in India.

If they acquire Indian citizenship, they can apply for US visas in India. Even if they do not acquire Indian citizenship, but have valid residency in India, they can apply for US visas using the Sri Lankan passports in India.
The requirement is that an aplicant must be a resident of the local consulate's jurisdiction. You do not need to have national citizenship.
