I had my interview in Newark yesterday. My appointment was 2:06 pm. Got there around 1:40. The room was crowded, roughly about 150 people in there. Got called in for interview at 2:25. My interviewer is an African American; she was polite, friendly and courteous. She asked me to raise my hand then asked me questions : Are you married, when did you get married, what do you do (my profession), have you been out of the country. She then went through my passport briefly and proceeded with the civic questions. All the questions asked were taken from the 100 sample questions that most people already have. She also instructed me to write down her sentence in print, not cursive. Then, she congratulated me for passing the test. Finished the interview in 7 minutes.
I was told to wait in the waiting room. At 4:10, I was called at the window to verify & sign the certificate. Then back to waiting. At 5:45, the ceremony began. By 6:00 pm, I was out as a US citizen. What a journey... I must say, it's a pleasant experience.
Although, I just found this site 3 days before my interview, I have gained tremendous inputs & knowledge. I was so excited when I learned that the interview & oath are done at the same day in Newark. I thank everyone for sharing their experience & knowledge. For those who are still waiting, just hang in there, your time will come soon. The whole process only took 6 months.
