Finally the ordeal is over......................Here is how it all unfolded
Interview was scheduled for 8:20am, reached the INS office at 7:45, had to stand in the line to pass security. Finally got to 13th floor at 8:15am and there were already about 20 ppl in the room. Gave my interview letter at the window and was asked to be seated. I was pretty nervous but CNBC kept me company and before I knew my name was called at around 9:15am. Officer took me inside, took a finger print and had me sign a document. Finally she asked me to follow her and after zig zaggin the room for 5 mins finally reached her cubicle. After completing the oath formalities she asked me to sit down and opened my big fat file. I was amazingly surprised how well she knew/read my case. She knew the company who sponsored me, company I am currently working for, my pay difference, year I joined and left my sponsoring company and what have you. The officer was very nice but at the same time she grilled me for about 15-20 mins about why I left the sponsoring employer and whether I was going to join them again. She also asked me about the BIG pay diff there was between my LC and current pay etc etc. Another thing that surprised me was that although my interview letter only said to bring my PP, I94 and medical she asked for many more docs like my Birth certificate, recent taxes, recent paystubs, current employment letter. After checking all the docs she finally said the magic words Mr. X I am going to approve yr case today, I am stamping yr pp with the temp GC etc etc.........boy I was relieved. I left the building at 9:45am it was finally all over
Btw, officer also chatted with me while she was stamping my pp and this info might be helpful to some folks out there. She told me that she was glad that I had submitted my BC from the Indian govt not the affidavits. They require a legal doc from the govt now and if you don't have one then they are sending ppl to the local consulate to get one. So if any of u guys out there do not have one try getting one from the Indian consulate or from any govt body in India. I am not sure if this is a rule or just how this particular officer works.
Kkg, Miss You : I suggest you guys take every document u can imagine for the interview. You do not need the photos (i had taken mine) coz they already have them. Good luck to you guys, I am sure that u will be approved as well.
