Interview work-related questions

Hi everyone,

So, I’ve noticed from a few interview experience threads that a very common question is “what do you plan to do in the US”.

My husband is in IT and his particular field has a pretty decent demand so he will be looking for a full time job. Easy answer there.

In my case, although I’m a marketing manager, I’m also working on a side project of mine, a startup that I plan to launch in the US (winning the lottery was perfect timing). The thing is, statistically most startups fail so it’s a risky business. Is it smart to answer honestly and risk them perceiving me potentially become a public charge down the line in the case my business fails?

For me, honesty is always the best policy but should I play it safe and just say I will be looking for a marketing job?

I appreciate your opinions.

Honest answers are typically the most natural and honest sounding. No need to cover up anything at all - you are overthinking the whole thing...

Do you have to tell the CO everything, even what he has not asked you. Most of the stuff you are talking about here is your life. For the CO, they are just doing their job, and it's most likely that they won't even remember you after giving you the visa. Besides, a person does one thing at a time. For now, you are a marketing manager. That's what you tell them. The visa interview is not a counseling session for people who want to go to US!

First of all, you must not have read what I said...

Who said anything about a counselling session?
I don't need advice on what I'm going to do when I get to the US, certainly not from a CO. That is not what I was asking...

Jeez, lighten up.

And by the way, "what do you intend to do when you go to the US" seems to be a pretty common interview question so I don't understand what's wrong here. It's not like I just told you my whole life story like I've seen so many people do in other threads.
