Do you have copies of the passport? did you use that passport to enter any other country? Did you travel or traveled a lot? recently?

It is ok to go to interview without a passport and tell them about the police report issue. However, the possiblity is that they may verify your travel record just to make sure. They use the passport to verify entry stamps.

the officer may postpone his decision until he review your travel record

it all depends on your officer

What if someone used her 'short term validity NP' to do 'landing by road' to a neighboring country and then she drove back the same day after showing her valid GC ? .... and then she didnt do any overseas travel on this doc because it expired shortly afterwards (She didnt do any air-travel on this short term NP at all).

I am asking because one of my friend had a short term validity NP (valid for 6 months or so)... sometimes Indian consulates in US issue 6 month duration NPs to asylees (for once), so she got it then. Once expired, she simply disposed it several years ago because it was just a useless expired doc for her. Things changed in her life so she never applied for the citizenship of the neighboring country and she didnt care to go back to Indian Consulate for any renewal either.

1. Does she need to search/locate any details of this NP?
2. What are the chances that someone might have that old record of that old NP which she didnt use for any air-travel and 'didnt use to enter this country at all ?

Just curious..!!
