I was 18 when i applied. I am 19 now. I came from Peru when i was 9 years old on July of 98 or 99. I've lived in CT ever since and have not gone to any other state (besides NJ and NY city).

Every year since that July i've gone back to Peru to visit family and friends each summer after the school year (July, August) for two or so months.

This year (2008) I haven't.

Besides what they list to bring, what else should i have?

I have no tickets, no arrests, etc. I'm clean.

So anything i should be aware of?

And as far as the interview goes, what do they ask? For the citizenship questions, are they oral or is it paper?

Thanks! :D

History questions are all oral. If you answer 6 out of 10 questions, you will be ok. The IO will ask you to read a sentence and also make you write one.
Nothing to be scared of, just study those 96 questions and you will be fine. Good luck.

Sergio,
Good luck, go through the interview experiences of others from your DO. Also make sure you take a print out of the registration for selective services . Your age makes it most likely you will be a sked.

In your age be prepared for the selective service question.

Not to worry about the English :D I've been here a long time and can read/write perfectly :)

I have the SS registration card (i registered for it when i applied for naturalization). Will this be ok to bring? Also, some careless person  wrote in the back of the card (it's really a piece of paper with SS + SSN numbers). Or will i have to go to their site and print it out? Or both?

Also, another question.

My GC expired July 19th. An immigration officer told my mom that i would not need to renew it if i had applied for naturalization and my interview was within 6 months. Will this cause a problem at all?

Thank you!!

THe GC technically never expires unless you want to travel. As long as you remain in the country you never have to renew your GC. Nevertheless, for those reading this, I will advice you renew your expired GC just to avoid unnecessary headache from some over-zealous sheriff or employer or anyone else.
FOr you, your GC expiration does not mean anything, 6 months or 6 years.

Your GC does expire after 10 years from original issuance. It's your status as a legal resident that doesn't expire when your GC does.

Yea, i know you just need a GC to enter the country and be recognized as a legal resident.

So i won't need to renew it just for the interview, correct?

Pardon me. My choice of words seems to create a meaning never intended. You are right, your status as a LPR does not expire even if your GC expires. In order words, you do not need to renew your GC unless for you have to use the card as an evidence of your residency status. To the best of my knowledge, you are not required to renew it for an interview that at the end you hope to hand in the card anyway.
I am not sure where the IO came up with 6 months. Mind buggling!!!
PS: Thanks to a very inefficient USCIS, takes a long time to renew the GC. It will never be ready by the end of this year.
