interview rescheduled because immigration file was not received

Hello all,
my wife's interview was today 1/4 ,after we went to the immigration office and gave the officer the interview letter a few minutes later he calls my wife and gave her a letter stating that the interview had to be rescheduled to a later date because her file was not received!

my question is if anyone had the same experience before and how long it's gonna take to get another interview appt.

another thing what happens if the file was lost?

It all depends on things one can only speculate about. Where is the file? Is trhere another pending application or petition that required the file? Are there any "issues" in the case?

If it's just sloppy clerical error, once they get the file at the local office, they usually try to manual schedule it as soon as possible in an open slot. Slots open up when someone else's file does not arrive or if someone requests rescheduling......

thanks for the reply,
it's pretty straight forward case ...there is no known issues regarding the case

it took UCSIS exactly 5 months from the time we send the application until we received the interview notice so my guess they sent the interview letter BEFORE receiving the file just to stay within the 5 months timeframe.

yes we showed up as scheduled because we haven't received anything from immigration and tell you the truth it was so frustrating .
