my wife had an green card interview based on asylum, i was the primary asylee,

she filed green card application with nebraska center, then her case transfered
to texas center, eventually transfered to the local office in san francisco,

the interview was so simple and short, the officer asked my wife about
what does she do, where she works, has she ever been outside the country more than six months, he asked only simple questions,

the interview lasted 10 to 15 minutes, he approved my wife case after the interview and told her to expect the card within 3 weeks,

before we leave the room, my wife asked the officer if she can have proof of approval, the officer asked my wife for her passport, he took the passport to another room, and came back with approval stamp on her passport,

i dont believe you need a lawyer for the interview,

iam sure your wife will get approved during the interview,
good luck

most interviews for asylum based I-485s are routine.

Receiving medicaid is OK. It is also OK if you have not worked.

if the place where you married each other issues marriage certificates then you will need a marriage certificate for immigration purposes.

thanks thankful

thanks guys for quick response
but please tell me she does'nt have passport should we take expired refugee travel document instead and for marriage my question is can register our marriage now and take that certificate but in real we married three years ago.to let you know that this application is my wife own asylum application not a derivative

Yes a RTD is a substitute for a passport.

Did you gain asylum benefit from your wife?

Does your state recognize a common law marriage?

hi thanksful
no i am not taking any benefit from my wife status.she has her own asylum petition and i have my own asylum application.i got my green card two years ago but her case was stuck in fbi name check for three years .now the question is that we did'nt register our marriage at that time but we file joint return tax file as married couple from last three years.please send me interview questions so that we can be very well prepared

thanks john
