Interview notice not received

I applied for naturalization on March 23, 2012. On May 8, my status first indicated that I was placed in line for interview and then on the same day it changed to interview scheduled and that I should be receiving the appointment letter in two weeks. So, two weeks passed and no appointment letter. Then, I called USCIS on May 23 to inquire why I hadn't received the letter by mail. The customer representatve confirmed that my interview has been scheduled and that I should have received the letter. He then placed a request for the letter to be mailed through the field office, which I believe is San Antonio as I live in Austin. He asked me to contact again if I dont receive the letter in 15 days.

Has anyone had their appointment letter lost in the mail? I received all other documents from USCIS very promptly without any problem. Now, I am wondering what if the second letter gets lost in the mail? I am wondering if there is a possibility of going to the field office in person and collecting the appointment letter. Has any one done that?

Thanks for your input in advance!

You better take infopass and go to your field office. In this forum I have noticed that some have got their FP notice by going to field office.

Good luck

USCIS recently acknowledged a computer printer problem where the automated notices got screwed up. They reprinted a ton of stuff and many people were confused about Duplicate Notices. You could be one of the few who were missed. You have probably done all that you needed to do. In your communication with Customer Service, did they tell you what you were scheduled for, where and when?

I looked into it and it appears that I have to wait for 45 days to hear from NCSC. So, I could not make an appointment.

I am bummed because I want to be able to vote this year. Everything was going like clockwork. The customer rep did not give me appointment details.

Looking again at your time line and you are jumping the gun in worrying about anything yet. Go to your backyard BBQ or whatever and relax.

Exactly the same happened to me! Even the cities match. The agent (2nd level) told me the interview date and requested a 2nd letter sent out. She said if I would not receive the letter 1 week prior my appointment date, call them again and they would fax it to me.

If they didn't tell you the exact date call them again and ask for it.

Thanks BigJoe5. I just should be doing that!

Kim_Gong, that makes me feel better. I did not push for the date and the agent did not volunteer that information either. I wonder why he didn't if he had access to that information. Oh well! But, I am going to call tomorrow and inquire about the date. I had a couple of questions for you:

1. What does "2nd level" mean?
2. Also, what was the waiting time between the online case status change (scheduled for interview) to the interview date?

Thank you!

1. A non-agent customer service rep. answers the phone. They pretty much have access to the same information you can see on the web. They transfer you to an agent who sees much more about your case.

2. 38 days (check my signature for more details)

Thanks for both information and for the prompt responses. I need some more clarification on how to get to the 2nd level agent. Did you ask for the interview date and you were quickly transferred to the agent? I would really like to speak to this person and get the date.

Thank you once again!

Tell them that you haven't received your interview letter for 3 weeks now and request a resend. The 1st level rep. cannot do that, they will transfer you to a 2nd agent.

I called USCIS. The person did not have the date information. When I asked for a second agent, she did not understand that and kept saying that their office did not have information on interview date and time. She said that my request for duplicate notice has been sent to San Antonio office on 5/23, but the letter has not been generated yet. I was asked to wait for 15 more days. I am frustrated!

I called USCIS twice after my last call where I was not transferred to an agent at the next level. At the first call, the representative told me that I will be able to speak with a second level agent and that I should have a fax number. He asked me to call back at 10am EST. So, I called back again and was informed that I have to wait out 30 days from the day the appointment notice was generated. That would be around June 7. If I do not receive the notice by June 7, then I will get the opportunity to speak with someone at the second level and be able to give a fax number, and go from there.

Finally! I called USCIS twice yesterday. The first call was just awful and the rep(resentative) was of no help. Then I called again and told the rep that I still hadn't received my interview letter. This time the rep was very helpful. He got all my information and said that a second notice request was sent on 5/23 and that I had to wait for 15 days. Then, I asked if I could speak to someone at the next level. I really expected him to say no because the 15 day wait had not been over yet. But, to my surprise, he transferred me to an officer. I waited about 10 minutes after which an officer came on the line. She appeared to know everything about my case and said that my interview has been scheduled for June 22. I still have to have the notice to take with me, but I am relieved that I know date now. I already have taken Infopass for 6/11. If I do not get the notice by next week, I will visit the FO and hopefully get a copy of my notice.
