Hello Everyone,

My interview is a few weeks away and I need urgent answers for the question below.

I am married to a US Citizen and my interview for AOS (adjustment of status) is a few weeks away.

My US spouse uses the Food Stamp for my stepson.

Would the use of the food stamp be considered a public charge thereby
denying my application for adjustment of status?

A million thanks as I await your response.

In my opinion if she meets the Poverty guideline income criteria there should be no issues. Also dont mention the food stamp thing to the officer untill asked as they usually dont pull your Social security file. Else you can self sponsor yourself with I-864A and add your income to the total income of the family.

The USC can use all the public assistance they want, the examiner will not even ask about it. They might ask about your public assistance though. The only question *could* be if he receives public assistance, then how can he support you but I doubt the subject will even come up as long as the Aff of Support is fine.
