Hi roberto gasta,
Depending on where and when you choose to file your application, the period of time between sending in the completed application and the interview to become a U.S. Citizen can vary from five months to more than two years.Go ahead with the trip it shouldn't be a problem i guess. Good luck!

some places are fast some are slow...if you want to see the trends, look at the threads for your District office, there are many timelines on this forum

The interview appointment notice could be sent in as little as 2 months after filing BUT your background check needs to be completed BEFORE they are supposed to send it. Background checks can vary on an individual basis. Some cases take much longer. In addition, the size of the workload at the particular office will vary.

As for the FIRST appt. notice they send, it will be for a fingerprint (FP) appt. and that may come in as little as 2 or 3 weeks after FILING the N-400.

That said, either letter could give you as little as 2 weeks notice BUT should give you at least one month in most cases. FP appt's usually give you instructions for a "make-up" walk-in for a missed appt or in the alternative, instructions for re-scheduling requests.

Good Luck!
