Interview is over, now what?

My wife and I just had our “Initial Interview” on Thursday and now we are wondering what is next. It wasn’t what I expected and some things where weird because of the lady interviewing us. So where is what happened.

We come in, we sit down and she just was asking us for my wife to spell her name, date, etc…just to make sure she is who the application said as she is the one applying for a green card based on marriage. As we were doing that the lady just asked just to explain how we met, who purposed, how, and our wedding. Which we met online, where talking for a year and finally one day last June we met up and got married in August in Vegas because it just was us. My family doesn’t live close and wouldn’t come to our wedding cept probably mom and her family is in Spain and Romania. But that was about it. The whole interview was about 10 to 15 minutes.

Are people normally told right then if they are approved or not? I keep checking the application status online and it wasn’t updated from Received and Pending. Could anyone describe of a sign of how you would know if the person interviewing you thinks you are lying? I mean we really are married but it just seemed weird when we where in there.

Or she did ask us out common interests which I said we really haven’t thought about that. Basically our days consist or us going out to like a movie, dinner, things like that. She doesn’t like American sports and I don’t like European sports like soccer. Which the weird part was she came down on me how soccer is a world sport. Which I basically in my mind rolled my eyes at her. And thinking “yes it is a world sport but you know what I mean”.

And this was out of the Seattle office so I think it would possible be different from office to office, so I have been told.

All you can do is wait. I wasn't told I was approved at the interview and had to wait. They won't check it for you until 60 days has passed since the interview. It sucks, but it's how it is.

Did she take your I-94? Did you ask if the name check was complete?

I had a similar experience - the IO said my name check was complete and she gave me a sheet with my name and alien #, stating that the final decision would be made within 60 days. I did not hear anything for exactly a month but yesterday finally got the card production email. So now you have to wait and it's really out of your hands for the next 60 days, so you might just relax and don't worry about it that much....

I don't beleive she took the I-94.

But I did find out that on the same day, last Thursday, that my wife's work permit was approved, printed and mailed out. So maybe that is a good sign?

I know her alien number was actually listed on one of the receipt numbers that we already had. But the lady did not give us a sheet while we were there. She actually did update the forms we mailed in with the alien number.

So actually I am noticing that her I-94 card is missing. Are they supposed to take it in the interview? The lady didn't say she was taking it but going through her papers it is not here. and when we left we just grabbed everything and put it into the folder we had but didn't notice it missing or not.

Which she just got her work permit today but I beleive the social security office needes the I-94 to allow her to work. She does already have a SSN but it's not for work so we want to get that changed this week.

Once you have an SSN, thats the # that remains for the rest of time, no matter what-atleast was for me and unless rules have changed. If you have an SSN and received the EAD card in the mail, which is the work permit, you should be good to go.

So this evening I am chcecking the status of the I-485 and here is what it shows:

Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Card production ordered

So I am assuming this means her GC has been approved? If so, does anyone know about how long it takes to arrive? We are pretty excited about it.

Congrats! Based on what I have noticed (in the time lines) in this forum; it should probably take less than 2 weeks from now for you to receive card.
