Interview in 12 hours

Hello Alii,
Excuse me for asking: But then what happened ? Did she tell you you were approvd and you will get the oath letter in the mail ??? Or she stated they will run a background check again?

By reading Ali's post, it seems like he passed the test, everything is good to go. He is now waiting for his oath letter in the mail. the decision was already made on the day of his interview. He has cleared all his background checks.

Des Moines N-400 Interview

Hello friends!

It's noon and I just got back home from my 9:40 interview appointment. They were running about an hour late and then the building had a tornado drill so everyone had to go out to the elevators..That added another 15 minutes..However, the bottom line is that I passed my interview and I am told that I should be expecting the oath letter in about 2 months or less.

The IO was very pleasant. She was of Hispanic origin and we talked about how people here in Iowa could be racist at times lol. Didn't expect to hear that from her though. Anyhow..I was there at 9:10 and waited till about 11 am before she called me in. Told me to swear that I will tell nothing but the truth. After that she went over my application and asked me all those questions on the application. She then took her sweet time to update my address and add my previous addresses in the computer while we talked about how I was wearing a yellow shirt on my passport picture..in the pictures I sent with my N-400 and today lol. And then the small talk about racism. Anywho..She told me to read a sentence and then write "I am too busy talk today." After that she asked me 10 questions..From the top of my head..

1. Colors on the flag.
2. Who elects the congress. (I said people of the US and she asked me which people? I corrected myself by saying the CITIZENS)
3. How many stripes are there on the flag.
4. Who is known as the father of the nation.
5. Who is the president of the US.
6. When was the declaration of independence written.

cant remember the remaining 4. After that she congratulated me and said that I should get a letter in about 2 months or less. Also said that check in time is 930 on the letter of oath but she quitely said I can check in at 1030 as well.

Overall it was a very pleasant experience. I was a bit nervous but I guess that happens to the best of us.

I would like to thank you all for answering the questions I put up here and for sharing your experiences. It was great help. Oh, and one more thing..I had updated pages of the N-400 about citations n address etc but she didn't even bother to take them. As long as there was no arrests or citation over $500, no worries.

Thanks again guys..I will definitely be around to answer any questions that I can and guide others just the way I was guided.

Just a couple more questions (if you don't mind) re your interview -- did she really go through the entire N-400 and ask you question by question? Also, what documents did you have to bring with you and did she ask you to show them to her? Hope you receive your Oath Date soon. I posted the dates of the Des Moines Ceremonies for May - July - looks like they are twice per month. Thanks
