Our 485 case is transferred to local INS by VSC. The reason is my wife (EAD) didn\'t collect unemployment benefit after being laid off. The INS officers suspected our intellectual capability so they call for an interview. Any suggestions on how to answer this issue?

Why INS check your wife\'s status? Did your wife apply for unemployment benefit, and receive the check? Did INS tell you that\'s the reason your case was transferred for interview?

I thought you can not apply for unemp benefits before you actually get PR status.
Any idea?

Yes, You can. I did

It is not a goverment agency so you can apply. I got approved.

You can actually get unemployment benefits without any problem from INS? I thought that only PR get that benefit... Could you please discuss this a little bit more ?
