Interview experience in Chicago

The appointment was at 11:00 AM. Was called at 11:00 AM. I had my attorney with me.

I was asked for GC, passport and DL.

I was given the civics and english tests, which I passed.

She subsequently asked me (to confirm/catch me off guard) how long at present address, who do I work for, my age, my height, if I registered for SS.

Then went through each yes/no question.

Total process lasted 10 minutes.

I was then handed the oath letter.
 
Firstly congratulations!!! Secondly why did you have an attorney with you? Did you have any prior arrests etc since usually the N400 process is fairly straight forward and doesn't typically require representation.
 
No, I did not have any arrests, etc. I am in a business where attorneys are the norm. So I had that mind set carried over. In any event, I viewed it as insurance - for $1,500, I get to do away with any possible unnecessary pain and suffering.
 
Wow, $1500 for an attorney presence? I couldve bought an unlocked iphone 3G from ebay with that money.... :)
 
Projecting power

I like to project power in whatever I do. The presence of an attorney in any matter (immigration or otherwise) accomplishes that.

$1,500 was for the entire N-400, incl. presence at the interview.

BTW, hope the attorney threw in free postage on the N-400 application for the $1500 fee. lmao.

My N-400 case was also pretty simple, and I paid $500 to attorney
for entire process, from feeling of N-400 to presence at interview.
